DSWD Allows Senior Citizens to Use National ID for Social Pension Payouts

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 1 announced that the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or National ID will now be accepted as the primary identification for social pension payouts of indigent senior citizens starting April 1.

The new policy aims to make the distribution of financial assistance faster, safer, and more accessible for elderly beneficiaries in the Ilocos Region.

National ID to Streamline Social Pension Distribution

According to DSWD, adopting the PhilSys National ID is part of the government’s initiative to modernize public service delivery and ensure that vulnerable senior citizens receive their benefits efficiently.

Eligible beneficiaries who do not yet have a National ID are encouraged to register at the nearest Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) office.

To make registration easier, the DSWD and PSA will conduct on-site PhilSys registration during scheduled social pension payouts.

Registration Assistance for Bedridden Seniors

For senior citizens who are bedridden or unable to travel, PSA personnel will conduct home visits to complete the National ID registration process.

DSWD said the coordinated effort between the agency and PSA aims to ensure that all qualified senior citizens are able to register and receive their benefits without difficulty.
