TESDA Lanao del Norte Opens Nearly 4,000 Scholarship Slots for 2026

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Lanao del Norte has opened applications for its 2026 scholarship program, offering nearly 4,000 training slots for residents who want to gain technical and vocational skills.

According to TESDA Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Norayah Acas, the program has an initial funding allocation of around ₱98 million to support training and scholarship assistance for qualified applicants.

Residents who are interested in joining the program are encouraged to register at the nearest TESDA training center or the TESDA provincial office.

Free Training and Daily Allowance for Scholars

TESDA confirmed that both training and competency assessment are free under the scholarship program.

In addition, beneficiaries will receive a daily training support fund of ₱160 to help cover expenses while attending the training.

TESDA Training Centers in Lanao del Norte

The scholarship program will be offered through TESDA’s training institutions in Iligan City and Lanao del Norte, including:

  • TESDA Regional Training Center – Iligan (Barangay Maria Cristina)
  • Lanao del Norte National Agro-Industrial School in Tubod
  • TESDA Provincial Training Center in Kapatagan
  • Salvador Trade School in Salvador

Private technical-vocational institutions in the province will also offer training programs under the scholarship initiative.

Interested applicants may visit these training institutions or the TESDA Lanao del Norte Provincial Office to register and submit their applications.

TESDA Training Linked to Job Opportunities

Director Acas explained that the scholarship program supports TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez’s “Training to Trabaho” initiative, which aims to connect skills training directly to employment opportunities.

TESDA is also strengthening partnerships with industries through the Enterprise-Based Education and Training Program, where companies identify the skills they need and TESDA provides the appropriate training for workers.

TESDA Scholars Gain International Recognition

TESDA Lanao del Norte scholars have also received international recognition, particularly students from Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology who participated in the Mechatronics competition.

The students won bronze medals in the WorldSkills ASEAN and WorldSkills Asia competitions and are preparing for the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China on September 22-27, 2026.

According to Acas, these achievements show that the skills training provided by TESDA Lanao del Norte is globally competitive.

TESDA Skills Passport for Workers

TESDA also introduced the TESDA Skills Passport, a mobile application launched in February 2026.

The app serves as a digital portfolio for Filipino workers, allowing them to:

  • Store and verify their National Certificates (NCs)
  • Manage training records
  • Access job opportunities
  • Enroll in online courses
  • Connect with TESDA-accredited institutions

The system is integrated with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) for secure verification.

Government Support for TESDA Programs

TESDA officials highlighted that the 2026 TESDA budget is the largest in the agency’s history, demonstrating strong government support for skills development and workforce training.

The agency aims to continue strengthening the technical education sector and improve employment opportunities for Filipino workers under the government’s Bagong Pilipinas initiative.
