Senior Citizens in Abra Receive P10,000 Cash Gift Under Expanded Centenarian Act

More than a hundred senior citizens in Abra who reached milestone ages recently received cash gifts from the government through the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC).

A total of 168 senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 received P10,000 cash gifts during a distribution activity held on March 11, 2026 at the Provincial Capitol Atrium in Bangued.

Cash Gifts Under Expanded Centenarian Act

The financial assistance is provided under Republic Act 11982, also known as the Expanded Centenarian Act of 2024.

The law recognizes the important contributions of senior citizens to their families and communities and grants cash incentives to elderly Filipinos who reach milestone ages.

Under the program:

  • Senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 receive P10,000
  • Centenarians (100 years old) receive P100,000

Centenarians to Receive P100,000

Two centenarians from the towns of Boliney and Tubo are also beneficiaries of the program.

They will receive P100,000 each at their respective homes to ensure their safety and comfort during the distribution.

Coverage of Beneficiaries

The 170 cash gift recipients include senior citizens who reached their milestone ages during the following periods:

  • March 17 to December 31, 2024
  • January 1 to December 31, 2025
  • January 1 to January 31, 2026

Beneficiaries Thankful for the Assistance

One of the beneficiaries, Baltazar Sago, an 80-year-old visually impaired resident from Patucannay, Bangued, expressed gratitude for the assistance.

He said the cash gift will help him buy medicines and other medical needs.

Meanwhile, Zone 2 Bangued Senior Citizens Organization President Elma Barbosa, who assisted a 95-year-old beneficiary during the event, explained that the cash gift is available to all Filipino senior citizens who meet the age requirement, whether they live in the Philippines or abroad.

First Distribution for 2026

The cash distribution activity marks the first wave of payouts for 2026.

The event was attended by Abra Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin together with personnel from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) who assisted in the distribution of cash gifts to the beneficiaries.

The government continues to implement the program to honor senior citizens and support their needs as they age.
