DOLE Grants ₱6.5 Million Livelihood Assistance to Community Groups in Claver, Surigao del Norte

Three community-based associations in Claver, Surigao del Norte received more than ₱6.5 million in livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to support local businesses and create more income opportunities for residents.

The total amount of ₱6,557,150 was distributed during a ceremonial turnover held on March 4, 2026 in Claver.

The assistance aims to help farmers, traders, and local workers strengthen their livelihood projects and improve economic activities in the municipality.

Beneficiary Associations

Three organizations received financial support from DOLE for their respective livelihood projects:

Claver Community Traders Association

The association received ₱2,994,950 for its retail rice trading project.

The project aims to improve access to affordable rice in the community while providing stable income for the members of the association.

Sabang Tayaga Tailors Association

The Sabang Tayaga Tailors Association received ₱566,000 to expand its tailoring and T-shirt printing business, which continues to grow in demand in the municipality.

Magallanes Integrated Farmers Association

The Magallanes Integrated Farmers Association was granted ₱2,996,200 to purchase a corn and rice harvester.

The equipment will help reduce post-harvest losses, lower labor costs, and increase agricultural productivity for local farmers.

DOLE Supports Sustainable Livelihood Projects

The turnover ceremony was attended by DOLE Caraga Regional Director Jason P. Balais, Technical Support and Services Division Chief Annie C. Tangpos, Provincial Director May C. Velonta, Claver Mayor Georgia D. Gokiangkee, and representatives from the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

Director Balais said the livelihood grants demonstrate DOLE’s continued commitment to supporting community associations with strong potential for sustainable businesses.

He expressed confidence that the projects will grow into stable enterprises that will benefit not only association members but also the wider community.

Local Government Welcomes the Program

Claver Mayor Georgia D. Gokiangkee thanked DOLE for its partnership with the local government in implementing livelihood programs for residents.

She emphasized that collaboration between government agencies and local officials helps deliver meaningful support to communities.

Associations Expect More Opportunities

Rosalina Rivero, president of the Sabang Tayaga Tailors Association, said the grant will help their group handle the increasing demand for uniforms and customized T-shirt printing services in the municipality.

She added that the additional resources will allow the association to accept bulk orders while creating more livelihood opportunities for members.

Program to Boost Local Economy

The livelihood projects are expected to:

  • Improve access to affordable rice in the community
  • Modernize farming through mechanized harvesting
  • Support small businesses and tailoring services
  • Generate additional employment opportunities

Through these initiatives, DOLE aims to help build stronger and sustainable community enterprises while boosting economic growth in Claver, Surigao del Norte.
