Unlike most government scholarships aimed at incoming freshmen, the Senator Tito Sotto Scholarship is built specifically for students already deep into their degree and applications for its second year are now open.
The program, run through the Office of Senator Vicente C. Sotto III, offers tuition fee assistance to third-year and fourth-year college students who need help getting through the final stretch of their degree.
For School Year 2026-2027, the office is accepting applications nationwide from students enrolled in any CHED-recognized higher education institution.
How much assistance is provided
The office has not disclosed the exact amount scholars will receive, saying only that qualified recipients will get tuition fee assistance under the program. Specific figures have not been made public as of this writing.
Who qualifies
To be eligible, applicants must currently be in their third or fourth year of college at a CHED-recognized school, carry a general weighted average of at least 85 percent (or 2.00), and have no failing grades on their academic record.
The scholarship’s online application form accepts entries from every region in the country, meaning students don’t need to be based in any particular area to apply.
Documents to prepare
The office hasn’t published a fixed checklist of requirements, but applicants are advised to have digital copies of their academic records and any other supporting documents ready, since the online form will prompt for specific attachments depending on individual circumstances.
The scholarship committee has warned that incomplete submissions or missing documents may result in an application not being processed at all.
How to apply for the Senator Tito Sotto Scholarship
The process is online. Applicants start by reading through the instructions on the application form, then fill in the required sections personal information, family background, educational history, and, where relevant, financial or employment details. Before submitting, applicants are asked to certify that everything they’ve entered is complete, accurate, and truthful.
Once submitted, there’s no further action required on the applicant’s end; only those who make it through screening will be contacted by email.
Deadline
Applications close on August 15, 2026. The office is urging students not to wait until the last minute, warning that late submissions may not be accepted and that technical issues near the deadline could keep incomplete applications from going through.
Because the scholarship undergoes a full screening, verification, and deliberation process, submitting an application does not guarantee a slot only applicants who clear that evaluation will be considered for an award.
